Henrietta Elizabeth Marshall’s history of England starting from the time of the Roman Empire through World War I. The chapters are centered around famous rulers and figures in British history with stories that are accessible to younger readers. The stories include such famous figures as King Alfred, William the Conqueror, Henry Plantagenet, Mary I, Edward III, and Queen Victoria. The book is an excellent introduction to British history for children.

First published in 1905, this edition is derived from the original book first with 32 color illustrations by A. S. Forrest. As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
