Prairie and Rocky-Mountain Life

A first-person account of a 2-month summer tour of the U.S. states of Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, & Kansas in 1846. Parkman was 23 at the time of his journey. The heart of the story covers the three weeks Parkman spent hunting buffalo with a band of Oglala Sioux. The book was originally entitled The California & Oregon Trail and was serialized in 21 installments in Knickerbocker’s Magazine.

First published in 1849, this edition is derived from the original book with 2 black & white illustrations and 1 map of the Oregon trail and surrounding territory. As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
