Son of a wealthy railroad magnate, Harvey Cheyne, lives a pampered life until one day he is washed overboard from a transatlantic steamship.  Harvey is rescued by a fishing schooner off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. Unable to persuade the captain to take him quickly to port, Harvey learns to adapt to his new life as a crew member of the fishing vessel through a series of trails and adventures.
