The classic anti-slavery novel by Harriet Beecher Stowe. The novel had a profound effect on the attitudes of the public towards African Americans and slavery in the U.S. Stowe, an avid abolitionist, wrote the novel to depict the reality of slavery and potential of Christian love to overcome it. The story focuses on the character of Uncle Tom, a black slave around whom the stories of the other characters revolve.

First published in 1852, this edition is derived from the edition published in 1853 with over 160 black & white illustrations by Hammatt Billings. As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
