Poet of Childhood

Born in St. Louis, Missouri and raised by a cousin after the death of his mother, at age 6, he was raised in Massachusetts. Field attended several colleges including Williams College, Knox College, and University of Missouri, but never did graduate having spent much of his time playing practical jokes.
