Kari, the elephant, lives in India with his 9 year old owner where they bond during their adventures in the cities, jungles, and countryside. Dhan Gopal wrote the book about his native India where he spent his childhood. After briefly living in Japan he moved to San Francisco. He intended to bring understanding of his native culture to his American readers through his stories.
First published in 1922, this edition is derived from the original book with 8 black & white illustrations by J. E. Allen. As always, this edition is complete and un-abridged.
