Charles Perrault’s famous retelling of classic folklore. Included are such popular fairy tales as Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood, Puss in Boots, and Cinderella. Perrault is often credited as the founder of the modern fairy tale genre and for popularizing and preserving these stories for future generations.
First published in 1697, this edition is derived from the French book published in 1861 with 42 black & white illustrations by Gustave Doré. The text is from the English translation by Robert Samber and J. E. Mansion published in 1922 with introduction by Thomas Bodkin. As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
