One of the earliest science fiction novels, it describes the journey and adventures of Captain Nemo as he commands his state of the art submarine, the Nautilis.  The Nautilis is first thought to be a mysterious sea monster when first spotted by an expedition sent to destroy it.

Originally published in French in 1870 and English in 1872, this edition is derived from the original French book with 111 black and white illustrations by Neuville and Riou. This edition’s English translation is by F.P. Walter.
