The story of an orphaned young girl who goes to live with her grandfather in a small village in the Swiss alps. Heidi befriends the local villagers and explores the natural surroundings of her knew home. Soon, though, Heidi is called to return to the city where she makes new friends, but quickly grows homesick for her mountain life.
First published in 1881 in German, this edition is derived from the translation published in 1919 and translated by Elisabeth P. Stork. Included are 35 color illustrations by Jessie Wilcox Smith. As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
