The beasts include a yak, a polar bear, a dodo bird, a dromedary, a whale, and many more. Belloc was a prolific author whose interests ranged from politics and religion to travel and poetry.

First published in 1896, this edition is derived from the original book with 46 black and white illustrations, including the cover, by Basil Temple Blackwood. As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
