By the Sieur Louis de Conte

Mark Twain’s last completed novel, it is presented as a translation by “Jean Francois Alden” of memoirs by Louis de Conte, a fictionalized version of Joan of Arc’s page. Twain stated “I like Joan of Arc best of all my books; and it is the best; I know it perfectly well. And besides, it furnished me seven times the pleasure afforded me by any of the others; twelve years of preparation, and two years of writing. The others needed no preparation and got none.”

First published in 1896, this edition is derived from the original book with 38 black & white illustrations by Frank DuMond. As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
