The 1st book in the Among the People series by Clara Dillingham Pierson. An introduction for children to the animals, birds, and insects of the meadow. Each chapter is a story about a different creature including a butterfly, an ant, earthworms, a frog, a grasshopper, and many more. The stories provide both information about the animals and an inspirational moral lesson for the reader.

First published in 1897, this edition is derived from the original book with 22 black and white illustrations and numerous page decorations by F. C. Gordon.  As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
